GIMAC Pre-Summit Consultative Meetings and strategic engagements with the African Union, RECs, and partners.
Advancing Gender-Transformative Water Governance and Reparatory Justice within the Africa Water Vision 2063 Framework
Civil society organisations, youth networks, organisations of persons with disabilities, women entrepreneurs and Regional Economic Communities from across Africa adopted this outcome document, building on the 42nd GIMAC Pre-Summit Consultative Meeting and the African Union theme for 2026 on sustainable water and sanitation.
It sets out five recommendations to the African Union, the Regional Economic Communities and Member States — codifying WASH access as a human right, harmonising model laws and school infrastructure, strengthening data systems and women-led enterprise, care-responsive WASH budgeting, and protecting water services in conflict-affected countries.
The GIMAC Young Women Network trains and empowers the next generation of women leaders to engage in gender equality advocacy at the continental level. GYWN members participate in Pre-Summit meetings, capacity-building workshops, and AU engagement activities.
